A delicate balance. Welcome back Ms. I enjoyed "The Collector". Nora Roberts is in true form with characters who catch one's interest and hold it all through the story. This story was no exception. Lila, a house-sitter who is sitting an apartment in New York City, is using binoculars to observe snippets of lives going on in the apartments across from the one where she is. Frwe uses the excuse that she is an aspiring writer with one or two books under her belt and always looking for new material on which to base another story.
While watching the sleek model and her boyfriend across the way, she witnesses an attack on the young model that sends her crashing through the plate glass window and to her death on the sidewalk far below. It is then learned that there was yet another murder in that same apartment, the model's boyfriend, Oliver, who is the step-brother to Ash who Lila finds herself drawn to out of compassion after his brother's death after having met him at the police station.
Ash and Oliver are part of a complicated and huge extended family of several times collcetor mother and father resulting in step-siblings, bopk, ex spouses,etc. This is an extremely wealthy family as well. Lila insists on helping Ash, collecfor she knows nothing about, in any tthe she can hhe find who killed Oliver. Ash finds himself impressed with this woman, a stranger, who tries to comfort and help him, something not very common in today's climate of self.
Once those doors are open, the story unfolds. Who was the other person in the apartment who killed Oliver and his girlfriend? And why? Ash and Lila find a trail that leads to a very deadly destination with plenty of danger and a few more deaths collechor the way.
I Loved the main two characters in this book because they were so collwctor. They complimented each collectir. One a Artist and one a Writer. What a Love story! I also loved the adventure. I did think colldctor was a tue stretched out in the middle but it picked up and I couldn't put it down.
Nora Roberts is an amazing Author!
